Mr. Wilson is a proud Northwood University alumnus and serial entrepreneur. During his time as a Northwood student, Glenn played on our football team. He was taught the NU Idea, and his life reflects his embrace of the NU Idea. Glenn enjoyed a successful business career and decided to make a difference in the City of Flint where he was born. In 2010, Glenn co-founded Communities First, Inc., focusing on affordable housing, economic development, arts and culture outreach and environmental programs. Communities First has grown into a multi-million-dollar non-profit and expanded into Saginaw, Detroit, and other communities, providing a pathway out of poverty for many. Glenn Wilson is a passionate leader who serves the Flint community through board and committee service. He is currently on the board of Hurley Foundation, Mass Transportation Authority and Valley Area Agency on Aging, Michigan Housing Council and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis Advisory Committee. His work is shaping policy, communities and lives throughout the region. Glenn was named to the Michigan Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 list in 2017, was the recipient of the Young Professional Award presented by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce and received the American Express Aspire Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He was also selected as a Next City Vanguard, proposing community development solutions to stakeholders in Newcastle, Australia and working with like-minded professionals from around the world.
