Join Northwood University for The Red Bandanna Game as Northwood Men’s Soccer takes the field and we come together to honor the life and legacy of Welles Crowther.

Known for the red bandanna he carried since childhood, Welles became a symbol of courage and selflessness on September 11, 2001. Survivors later shared how a young man wearing a red bandanna repeatedly led people to safety from the South Tower of the World Trade Center before returning to help others.

His story, told in The Red Bandanna: A Life. A Choice. A Legacy., demonstrates the lasting impact of character, courage and a life lived with purpose.

As part of Northwood University’s observance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to wear a red bandanna to the game as a visible tribute to Welles and to honor the lives lost and the heroes who emerged on 9/11.
